How to save on car customs clearance in 2025: EUR.1 certificate
In 2025, the procedure for customs clearance of cars from Europe remains relevant for Ukrainians looking for profitable purchase options. One way to save money is to obtain a EUR.1 certificate, which allows you to reduce or completely avoid paying import duties.
What is an EUR.1 certificate?
The EUR.1 certificate is a document that confirms that the goods (in our case, a car) are of European origin. Thanks to the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, with such a document, the import duty on a car is 0% instead of the standard 10%.
Who can obtain this certificate?
EUR.1 can only be issued for vehicles that were manufactured in the European Union. If a car, for example, is imported from the USA, Canada or South Korea, but is sold in the EU, the certificate will not be issued.
What are the conditions for obtaining EUR.1 in 2025?
• The car must be manufactured in one of the EU countries.
• Proof of origin is required: VIN code, manufacturer information, technical data, invoice.
• Registration takes place at the customs office of the seller's country, before the car is exported to Ukraine.
How much can you save?
If the car costs, for example, 15,000 euros, the duty is 1,500 euros. If you have a EUR.1, you do not pay this amount. This is a significant saving, especially if it is a car with a larger engine capacity.
